Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a woman whose body was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside her rented house at Charu Chandra Place where she had been living with her live-in partner for the past six months.
The deceased has been identified as Urmi Das (22) who was in a relationship with one Sudipto Das and started living together in a rented house at Charuchandra Place. The family members of the deceased alleged that her boyfriend had murdered the woman. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the woman's father, police arrested the accused and interrogated him. The body was sent for post-mortem, the report of which may throw some light into the cause of her death.
According to the police, the woman had been married earlier but the relationship did not last too long and she filed for divorce. In the meantime, she had developed a relationship with Sudipto. Her family members also urged the woman to return home but she did not heed them.
The house owner told the police that they introduced themselves as husband and wife. They often engaged in quarrels, the house owner said. The woman's father called his daughter up on late Tuesday evening but she did not receive the call. Her phone went unanswered despite repeated attempts. Hence, the family members at around 11 pm on Tuesday went to her rented house where they found that the room was locked from inside.
They informed the matter to the local residents who broke open the door to find her body hanging from the ceiling fan with her 'dopatta'. After being informed, the police reached the spot and sent the body for the post-mortem.
