Woman who had filed for divorce, assaulted by husband's friend

Kolkata: A woman was assaulted by a friend of her husband against whom she has filed for a divorce.

The incident took place near Baisakhi bazar in Salt Lake on Saturday night.

The victim told the police that she was returning home in her car when her friend's husband who was in another car stopped her way near Baisakhi bazaar at around 11 pm on Saturday.

In her complaint, the woman mentioned that the accused overtook and parked his car in front of hers. He threatened her by saying that her car would be set on fire if she did not step out of the vehicle.

When she stepped out of the vehicle, the youth beat her up and threatened for dire consequences. He also snatched her mobile phone and deleted the call lists and various data from her cell phone. The victim told the police that her husband was trying to take revenge as she had filed for divorce. She had been heckled earlier as well.

She told the police that the accused also deleted various photographs from her phone.

The victim also received several injuries as she was repeatedly slapped by her husband's friend.

The victim later lodged a complaint at the Bidhannagar North police station on the basis of which police have started a detailed probe.
