Kolkata: A woman was allegedly threatened by a film producer after she went to his office to claim the due amount for her work.

The woman, identified as Atasi Bhowmik of Sukanta Park, lodged a complaint at the Bansdroni police station.

According to sources, a few years ago the accused producer identified as Ramesh Chand Singhal produced a film namely 'Palatak'. Bhowmik, owner of a Public Relation agency, had been given the contract of publicity and promotion related work. Bhowmik alleged Singhal did not pay her the expenses following the work was over.

However, Bhowmik had repeatedly requested Singhal to clear the dues but he allegedly extended the dates by promising to pay the money soon.

Bhowmik claimed that for the promotion and publicity of Singhal's film, she had invested Rs 5.72 lakh.

On Monday Bhowmik went to Singhal's office at Bramhapur in Bansdroni to claim her dues. She alleged that after reaching Singhal's office she was asked to wait for a longtime.

When she went to his chamber, Singhal allegedly threatened her with dire consequences. She also alleged

that a few of Singhal's staff brandishing a sharp weapon stated that if Bhowmik again claims her money, she would be killed.

Following the incident, Bhowmik somehow managed to escape from Singhal's office.
