Woman raped and murdered in South 24-Pgns

Kolkata: A woman was allegedly gang-raped and murdered at Basanti in South 24-Parganas on Saturday night by some miscreants in front of her own child.

According to sources, the woman was about 40-year-old and used to reside with her child at a village in Basanti.

Her husband stayed away from home due to his work. On Saturday night, a few miscreants entered her house and allegedly raped her.

It is alleged that when she was threatened to shut her mouth, she did not listen to the accused persons. When she tried to raise an alarm by screaming, miscreants started beating her. All of a sudden one of them hit on her head using a heavy blunt object.

When she fell down miscreants hit on her head again to ensure her death.

Hearing her daughter's cry, local residents ran to the woman's house and found her lying on the ground bleeding profusely. She was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Later Basanti police station was informed. After being informed, police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.

Police also went to her house. Till Sunday night no one was arrested in this case.
