Woman molested, husband beaten up over car parking

A woman was allegedly molested and her husband was beaten up by some local youth following a dispute over parking of their car. The incident took place at Bhowanipore late on Tuesday night. Police said that a case has been initiated following a complaint lodged by the victim. A police officer said that the couple along with their child went to a temple in the area after parking their car near a hotel on Elgin Road.

They found a no-parking sticker on their car when they returned from the temple. They had also admitted that the car was parked by them in front of the hotel without knowing that it was a no-parking zone. Suddenly two youth came out of the hotel and they got engaged into a heated altercation with the couple. The situation turned worse when the youth, one of whom was allegedly in an inebriated state, started beating them up.

The woman was molested when she tried to save her husband. Later, local people and some policemen of the area rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Their child was traumatised finding someone beating up his parents mercilessly. The police took statements of the woman and her husband. The couple told the police that they had mistakenly parked their car at that place. But they didn't understand that why the youth from the hotel suddenly attacked them. Search for the accused has also been initiated.
