Woman kills husband with help of lover at Nimta

Kolkata: A man was murdered by his wife over an extramarital affair on Saturday night. Later, the woman was arrested by the police.

According to local residents, on Saturday night, the body of a man identified as Sanjiban Mondal (40), who is a carpenter by profession and resident of Purba Alipur of Nimta, was found inside a bush near his home.

His throat was slit and a piece of cloth was entangled on Sanjiban's neck. Police from Nimta police station recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy examination.

On Saturday night, the police detained Sanjib's wife Anita Mondal for questioning.

During detention, investigators found some ambiguities in her statement. When Anita was asked where was she since the evening she fumbled and stated that she was not at home.

Anita claimed that she came back home and found blood inside their house and screamed. Later, local residents found her husband's body. On the ground of suspension Anita was arrested late on Saturday night.

On Sunday morning, during another phase of interrogation, Anita admitted that she along with her lover killed Sanjiban. Sources informed that as per her statement, Anita worked as a maid at a house near Belgharia Expressway.

She took care of a baby at a home and later developed an illicit relation with the child's father.

However, the police claimed that there could be two more persons who are connected with the murder and one of them may have an illicit relation with Anita.

During the interrogation, Anita said as per the plan she had sent her 14-year-old son outside and then gave sedatives Sanjiban.

Later, two other people strangled him and slit his throat to confirm the death. After the duo fled, Anita screamed as part of their plan. Police are searching for the duo who were also involved in the murder.
