Woman jumps to death from 7th floor of office

Kolkata: A woman reportedly committed suicide by jumping off from the 7th floor of a high-rise office building near Minto Park on Monday morning.

According to police, the woman identified as Jasmine Mitra (28) was an employee of a renowned jewellry brand for past several years.

On Monday morning, around 11:15 am, security staff of Chitrakut Building in Minto Park heard a loud noise. When some of them went to check what happened, they found a woman lying in a pool of blood.

Immediately Bhownaipore police station was informed. Meanwhile, some of the security staff identified her. Almost at the same time some of her colleagues came downstairs and said Jasmine jumped from a window of their office on the 7th floor.

Within a few minutes police personnel from Bhowanipore police station reached the spot and rushed Jasmine to SSKM Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Following that police informed her husband Aniruddha.

Jasmine's parents were also informed. Sources informed that on Monday she arrived at the office around 10 am.

Following that she was working on the computer. All of a sudden she left her desk and went towards the window. After reaching the window, she pulled the sliding window shutter and jumped. Her colleagues were stunned to see her jumping from the window and rushed downstairs.

After reaching SSKM Hospital her family members told the police that they have no idea why she has committed suicide.

There was no problem with her husband any family members over family matters. Jasmine was married to Aniruddha in 2013 and was leading a happy married life since then.

Even her parents ssaid they had no idea why Jasmine committed suicide. Sleuths are questioning her

colleagues about her recent activities if anything suspicious was noticed by any of them.

"Preliminary enquiry reveals that she committed suicide. The slippers which she was wearing was found near the window. Probe is on to ascertain the actual cause of death," said Meeraj Khalid, Deputy Commissioner, South Division of Kolkata Police.
