Woman, infant son injured after falling from train

Kolkata: A mother and her son were injured after falling from a running train at Gidhni Station in West Midnapore's Jhargram.
The mother, identified as Janani Mandi and her two-year-old son, were rushed to Jhargram Multi Superspeciality Hospital.
The mother has been undergoing treatment in the hospital while her son has been transferred to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, as his condition deteriorated.
The woman's husband Dakshin Mandi said that she was going to her parental home at Dhalbhumgarh in the same district, along with their infant son, when the accident took place.
Local people had found the victims lying in a pool of blood on the platform and rushed them to the hospital. Railway police rushed to the spot and started a probe.
According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victims might have fallen when they were trying to board a crowded train. The woman was carrying her son on her lap. As the train started moving, the woman, along with her son, fell on the platform.
Police later informed the matter to their family members. A probe has been initiated. Police are also investigating to know if there was any foul play behind the incident.MPOST
