Woman gang-raped, glass bottle inserted into her private parts

Kolkata: In a barbaric incident, a woman from Sainthia in Birbhum was allegedly gang-raped by three men and a bottle thrust into her private parts after she sought to end an extra-marital affair.

Tarak Bhaskar, the man accused, who barged into the woman's house at around 1.30 am on Monday along with two friends and attacked her.

The victim is stated to be critical. Police have started a probe in this regard of the basis of specific compliant.

Police said the miscreants tortured her after the victim sought to end an extra marital affair with Bhaskar.

A senior police officer in the district said that the key accused has already been arrested and raids are being conducted to nab the other two culprits who are currently absconding since the incident took place.

Police said that the victim's 13-year-old daughter, who was sleeping in the adjacent room, found her mother lying on the bed and cried for help.

After being informed by the locals, the police reached the spot and rescued the woman. The victim was taken to Saithia Rural hospital. The locals alleged that the police were late to reach the spot by almost five hours. The woman was bleeding profusely.

According to doctors, the woman's condition is critical and she needs to undergo an urgent operation for which she has to be shifted to another hospital with better infrastructure. But she cannot be shifted because of her condition. It is also learnt that the woman lived in her house with her daughter and son. Her husband lives in another state where he has gone for work.

According to the police, the three men who barged into her house were in an inebriated state.

The victim, a resident of Saithia in Birbhum, told the cops that three men, in inebriated state, barged into her house, gagged her before gang-raping her and then thrust a bottle into her private parts. One of the accused was known to her, she told to the police.

Locals said Tarak lived in the same locality. The woman had a relationship with Tarak. When she told him that she wanted to end it, he took her to an abandoned room near Sainthia bus stand and allegedly sexually assaulted her. When the woman told neighbours and others about the behavior, he resorted to Monday's gang-rape.
