Woman found with throat slit, lover admits crime; arrested

Kolkata: Police have arrested one Sanjay Mistri in connection with the murder of Godhuli Ghosh alias Radha whose body with her throat slit was found at her residence at Chetla where she was living with her husband Pradip Ghosh. Police said that the accused had developed an extra-marital affair with the deceased who was a sex worker. Radha was found dead inside her house on Thursday evening when her husband Pradip was away from home along with their daughter. Her husband used live in the woman's parental house. Around ten years ago, Radha got married to Pradip, a resident of Chitpur. They had a seven-year-old daughter. A few years ago, Radha got involved in flesh trade to overcome the financial constraints. She became acquainted with Sanjay with whom she had developed a love affair. She then left her husband and started living with Sanjay at Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas. After spending a few months with Sanjay, she again returned to her husband. She had also introduced her husband to Sanjay who in the face of interrogation told the police that he had spent Rs 10 lakh for Radha out of Rs 27 lakh that he got out of selling his property in Andaman. He also told the police that Radha started demanding more money from the accused and this ultimately led to her murder. Police are also investigating the role of the victim's husband who stepped out of their house with his daughter few minutes before the crime. Police said that Radha was wearing inner wear when her body was found. It is suspected that the accused had involved in physical relation minutes before the crime.
