Woman found dead at home in Malda

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of an 18-year-old woman whose body was found inside her residence in Malda's Gajol on Sunday morning.

According to the preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the woman had committed suicide by consuming poison.

The family members of the victim found her lying unconscious on her bed in the morning.

She was immediately taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital where the doctors pronounced her brought dead.

According to the doctors, the victim had consumed insecticides which eventually led to her death.

The body of the woman has been sent for the postmortem examination.

The police are waiting for the postmortem examination which might throw some light on the cause of her death.

The family members of the deceased told the police that the girl's boyfriend had threatened her that he would upload some of her personal photographs on the social media. The family members also claimed that the girl recently refused to continue the relationship with him.

The girl had been under mental depression following prolonged threats by her boyfriend, alleged the family members.

Police have started a detailed probe into the incident and they are verifying the statement of the deceased's family members. The victim's boy friend will also be interrogated in this connection.
