Within few days after CM's inauguration of Convention Centre, bookings start pouring in

Kolkata: Bookings for the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre have already begun with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurating the country's biggest business convention centre at New Town on October 13.
The state's most important business meet, namely, the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), which is attended by both by national and foreign delegates, will be held at the centre on January 16 and 17 next year. So long, BGBS used to held at the Milan Mela ground. It was decided at the BGBS that its next meeting will be held at the Convention Centre.
The first meeting after inauguration of the centre will be held from November 23 to 29 when the Indian Society of Anesthesiologists will hold its 6th annual conference, ISACON-2017.
Herbalife International India will hold a corporate seminar at the centre from January 4 to 7, 2018. Tata Medical Centre will organise an international seminar Immunohistochemistry between January 4 to 7, 2018. Diabetes India will have its annual conference at the centre from February 1 to 4, 2018. Again, International Trade Facilitation Centre will organise an international leather fair from February 24 to 28, 2018. Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals will have an Asia specific digestive conference from December 12-15, 2019.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore, the Convention Centre's main auditorium has a seating capacity of 3,200 which is highest in any auditorium in the country. There are four large exhibition halls including a state banquet. A garden food court linked to the exhibition halls and two smaller capacity auditoria each with a seating capacity of 434 people. There are extensive food and beverage facilities during conferences through provisions of banquet kitchens and satellite kitchens at all the levels of conference.
There are 112 twin bedrooms and a business centre with 10 meeting rooms. There are two specialty restaurants and a 24-hour coffee shop. There is a business club covering an area of 8000 square feet.
