Wing from AJC Bose Rd flyover up to Gariahat to ease traffic

Kolkata: Soon the journey from Park Circus to Gariahat is going to be completely free from traffic congestion. The reason — a wing from AJC Bose Flyover up to Gariahat is going to be constructed.
At present one needs to get down at Park Circus if he takes the Maa flyover while returning from EM Bypass side. But a step has been taken so that vehicles plying on Maa flyover need not get down at Park Circus Seven Point Crossing. A new wing will be constructed to connect Maa flyover and AJC Bose Road flyover so that vehicles can directly take the AJC Bose Road flyover instead of getting down at Park Circus while coming from EM Bypass.
The point where the wing from Maa flyover will connect AJC Bose Road flyover is considered to be quite crucial as the wing that will connect the flyover with Gariahat will also start from there.
Sources said that the wing from the AJC Bose Road flyover will be passing through Syed Amir Ali Avenue via Ballygunge Phanri up to Besco Residency. Hence with the completion of the wing, a vehicle need not take the existing congested road from Park Circus to reach Gariahat and instead take the proposed wing of the flyover, taking minimum time to reach his destination. The 2-km long wing will also ensure the reduction in traffic congestion. It may be mentioned that the construction of the Maa flyover and its direct connectivity with the AJC Bose Road flyover for vehicles heading towards EM Bypass has been of immense help to reduce the severe pressure of vehicular traffic on Park Circus Five Point Crossing. Now, with the construction of the wing that will also ensure a direct connection between the Maa flyover and the AJC Bose Road flyover for vehicles coming from EM Bypass will further reduce the pressure on the intersection. At present, one needs to travel on Syed Amir Ali Avenue to reach Gariahat, coming across several traffic signals, leading to loss of time.
