Wife, paramour kill man

Kolkata: A man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover at Salua near Chinar Park on Sunday night. Reportedly, when the woman tried to bury the body with a distant relative's help, the marks caused by the injuries inflicted on the man by the woman and her lover came to fore.

Later, the cops were informed and the woman and her alleged lover were arrested. Police arrested the duo and sent the body for autopsy. According to sources, the deceased identified as Tazaffar Hossain was a labourer. He lived with his wife Arzina Bibi at Salua. They recently rented a room at Atghara Tarafdarpara.

A few months ago Hossain came to know that wife was involved in an illicit relation with a youth identified as Shaikh

Ilias.

His relationship with his wife hit a rough patch as he objected to her involvement with the youth. To get rid of Hossain, Arzina and Ilias hatched a plan. According to the plan, on Sunday night, Bibi mixed something poisonous in Hossain's food.

When he fell unconscious, she allegedly called Ilias. Hossain was tied to the bed but at that moment he regained consciousness and tried to stop them.

Ilias and Arzina hit Hossain on his head and body multiple times and later he was strangulated to death using a pillow by Ilias.After killing Hossain, Arzina went to a distant relative's house identified as Razia Bibi in Salua to seek help pretending as if Hossain died due to illness.

When she reached Razia's house she found that the woman was not at her house.

Arzina went to Razia's son Shaikh Nazrul, who lives near Salua. Arzina cried and said Hossain died due to a cardiac arrest.

She said she lived in a Hindu area therefore local residents were not aware about the last rites of Muslims and there was no burial ground in and around Atghara.

Believing her, Nazrul went to Atghara and brought Hossain's body to Salua and kept it at his mother's house.

All of a sudden he asked Arzina when Hossain's other family members will come.

Arzina tried to bypass the question and tried to convince Nazrul to bury the body as soon as possible.

Nazrul grew suspicious. When he removed the cloth covering Hossain's body, he saw multiple injury marks. He called his neighbours and detained Arzina and Airport police station was informed.

After cops reached Salua they interrogated Arzina. During interrogation, she broke down and admitted that she along with her lover killed Hossain at her home in Atghara. Since the case place falls under the jurisdiction of Baguiati police station, Arzina was handed over to the officers of Baguiati police

station.

She was immediately arrested. Later in the afternoon, Ilias was also arrested.

The duo was produced before the Barasat Court on Tuesday and was remanded to seven days police custody. Sources informed that cops may reconstruct the murder case soon.
