West Bengal Apartment Ownership (Amendment) Bill, 2019 passed

Kolkata: The West Bengal Apartment Ownership (Amendment) Bill, 2019, was passed in the Assembly on Wednesday.

The Bill aims to form an association of apartment owners which will look into the maintenance of various flats.

It will also enable the

association to carry out various activities to properly maintain the environment of the apartment complex.

It has been found that there are some common facilities enjoyed by all the apartment owners in case of a large complex of township which are not exclusive to any particular group.

Maintenance of this type of common areas and facilities

require a federation of all the association within a project which will take

care of maintenance and management of such common areas and facilities enjoyed by all apartment owners.

The Bill proposes to enable the Association of a project to form a federation which will look after maintenance and management of common areas.

During last four decades the Housing Industry has come a long way and the last decade has witnessed development of not only stand alone high rises

but also large complexes with multiple residential provisions such as high rises, row houses, plotted development, commercial facilities etc.
