WBSEDCL meets record power demand in state

Kolkata: West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has successfully met a record power demand of 7080 MW across the state.

A press statement issued by the CPRO WBSEDCL, Biswarup Mukherjee on June 17 said throughout the last week there was a huge demand of power across the state and the WBSEDCL acted promptly to meet the need caused due to a rise in the demand of power.

On June 13, the WBSEDCL fulfilled its all-time high power demand of 7,080 MW in the state.

According to the press statement, the highest demand of power was recorded around 11.30 pm on June 13.

On June 12, there was a power demand of 6,852 MW and the figure remained at 6,610 MW on June 14. The WBSEDCL successfully catered to the record demand.

It may be mentioned here that earlier on July 19 in 2018, the WBSEDCL recorded a highest demand of 6,961 MW of power, while in September 2017 there had been a demand of 6,991 MW. WBSEDCL is committed to provide 24-hour uninterrupted power and quality service throughout the state.

It may be mentioned here that the state Power department has started adopting various new technologies for strengthening the power distribution system with special emphasis on quick identification of faults in electricity supply lines. The WBSEDCL adopted SEEDN technology, which enables the agency to locate the exact area of the fault as they start moving from the substation located in a particular area, from where the fault has been reported. The technology is equipped with a fault passage indicator, which helps in quick location of the electric pole, where there has been a problem.

The power department earlier had to travel long distances and check every single pole to identify the exact place of the fault. The department has already installed this technology in 50 feeder boxes across the state. The agency has been in the process of installing more sub-stations across the state.

It can also be stated here that the state power department last year achieved another milestone, as the

West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited had been conferred with the prestigious SKOCH Order-Of-Merit for 'Intellectual Billing with Automated Supervisory Check System', at

the 52nd SKOCH Summit in New Delhi.
