WBCHSE plans to change exam schedule due to proximity with JEE

Kolkata: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is planning to change the examination schedule in the wake of the Joint Entrance examination scheduled to be held when Higher Secondary examination will be in progress.
"It will be difficult for the students to make preparations for two examinations at the same time. There has been concern among the students and the guardians regarding this. So we may change the schedule of the Higher Secondary Examination," a senior official of the Council said.
The Higher Secondary examination as per the schedule announced in August will start from March 27 and end on April 11. The examination for the Science subjects are scheduled on April 6, 7 and 9. The Joint Entrance Examination will be held on April 8, Sunday.
The JEE will be held across the country and it is the door to higher education of the students. So it is the council which has to change the dates of the examination as it is a state examination.
"We are considering this very seriously and if we change the dates, it will be put up in our website," president of WBCHSE Mohua Das said.
Sources in the council said that a number of factors need to be taken into account when it comes in changing the schedule of an examination that involves such a huge number of students.
"The process may take some time but we will ensure there is no inconvenience to students," a council official said.
