WBBSE waives processing fee for students wanting to check answer scripts

Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has waived the processing fees of students seeking inspection of their answer scripts under Right to Information (RTI) Act.

However, for supply of certified photocopy of the answer scripts, a charge of Rs 2 will be charged for each page. The petitioner will have to deposit the money in cash against the receipt of a challan at the board office. A student dissatisfied with his/her marks in a particular subject and wanting to see the answer script of Madhyamik examination under RTI Act had to pay a fee of Rs 100 for taking photocopies of their scripts home.

"Now the student will have to pay only the photocopy charges and no processing fee," an official in WBBSE said. A notification in this regard undersigned by WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Ganguly has been uploaded in the website of the board.

It may be mentioned that the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has introduced a new system, through which students who have already appeared for their higher secondary examination can apply for self inspection of their answer scripts.

An online interface has been made available at the council website from July 5, through which the students can apply for self inspection of his/her answer scripts of the examination, by filling up a prescribed format.

The student will be able to keep track of the latest status of the application as well. The council will make the scripts available and the student will be notified to pay a visit on a particular date.
