Wage worker held for harassing schoolgirl

KOLKATA: A middle-aged daily wage worker was detained on charges of harassing a class II student of an English medium school at Suri in Birbhum on Sunday.
The accused, Sheikh Insan, used to work as a daily wage worker at the school and was engaged in a certain construction work that was going on at the school. It may be recalled that a few months ago, there had been agitation in front of a school in Kolkata following allegation of sexual assault on a four-year-old girl.
Police said parents of the girl, who studies at the English medium school, at Suri approached the school authorities on Saturday and informed about the harassment that their girl had faced.
The school authorities reported it to the police and told them about the allegations raised by the girl. Police have initiated a probe in this connection and women police spoke to the girl and her parents.
After taking their statement, the police picked up the daily wage worker, who is a resident of Guskara in East Burdwan.
