Villagers beat up man for planning to sell off child for toto

A middle-aged man was beaten up by villagers as he wanted to sell off one of his twins to get money for buying a toto rickshaw.

The incident took place on Monday at Srikrishnapur in East Midnapore.Police said the man wanted to sell off one of their twins and gave the proposal to his wife.

But his wife was not ready to accept his proposal and it led to a trouble in their family.

The man had allegedly beaten up his wife when she had restricted him from selling off one of their twins. Finding no other way out to save her babies from the clutches of their father, the womanapproached the local people on Monday morning.

The local people came to know from a neighbor that the man had plans to buy a toto rickshaw to earn a livelihood for his family. Thus, he wanted to sell off one of their twins to get

some money that he would invest to buy the toto rickshaw.The local people beat him up when he tried to threaten his wife in front of all for disclosing his plans.
