Vendetta politics to deny auditorium for Shah meeting: Ghosh

Kolkata: The West Bengal BJP unit today alleged that it was denied permission to hold a meeting of BJP president Amit Shah at a state-run auditorium and charged the state government with resorting to "vendetta politics".
The BJP has sought permission from the State Youth and Sports Department run Netaji Indoor Stadium to hold a meeting of Amit Shah on April 9, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh said.
"But the stadium authorities has denied permission citing that it is already booked. This is not the first time such thing has happened. Earlier too the state government has denied permission to hold rally," Ghosh said.
Ghosh said the incident had brought back memories of a similar stand off between the party and the state administration in September last year when Shah was to address a rally at the same venue. It was later cancelled at the last moment as the BJP was denied permission.
Reacting to the incident, senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee said the allegation of "vendetta politics" was baseless.
