Valuables, cash stolen from room of Novotel boarder

Kolkata: A Guwahati resident who boarded Novotel in New Town, lodged a complaint with the police saying that valuables and hard cash were looted from his room.
On the basis of the specific complaint, New Town police station has started a probe into the incident.
The investigators are also going through CCTV footages of the hotel to identify the accused.
According to the preliminary investigation, police have found a suspect who the police believe might have carried out the theft.
They were also investigating how the accused got access to his room.
Raj Kumar Chaudhury, a resident of Netaji Subhas Road in Guwahati who had boarded the hotel, also raised questions on the security of the star-rated hotel.
The victim also demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident.
Police said that the theft had taken place on last Tuesday following which the complaint was lodged.
The victim said that one unidentified person entered into his room and looted some ornaments and hard cash.
Following the incident, hotel authorities have handed over the CCTV footages to police so that the accused gets arrested.
According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the accused might be a boarder.
The investigators are however, not ruling out the possibility of the involvement of some hotel staff in the incident. They have started interrogating the hotel staff in this connection.
