Two teenagers, 7-year-old killed in accident

Kolkata: Two teenagers and a 7-year-old boy have been killed in fatal road accident on the National Highway 31 in Raigunge on Wednesday.
The incident took place when the motorcycle the victims were riding on, was hit by a speeding truck at Sonpara area under Goyalpokhar police station on Wednesday.
The incident led to a huge traffic jam on the National Highway 31. Vehicles remained stranded after a long time with the local people staging demonstration at the spot. They lifted the agitation following the intervention of the senior police officers.
They assured that accused driver would soon be arrested. The local residents also urged the police to crack down on the errant vehicles that ply through the area often flout the traffic norms.
Senior district police officers reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Traffic movement was gradually resumed. According to the police, the deceased were Shibu Sarkar (7), Rabindra Nath Sarkar (14) and Sudarshan Mondal (15).
Rabindra Nath had gone to one of his relatives' house at Kanki area of North Dinajpur on Monday on his own motorcycles along with the other two. They were all residents of Sonpara area. Eyewitness told the police that bike was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction near the Kanki police outpost area.
The local residents heard a loud thud and found that they were lying in a pool of blood on the road. They rushed the victims to Islampur Sub-divisional Hospital where all of them were declared brought dead by the doctors. The driver and the helper of the truck fled the spot immediately after the accident leaving the vehicle at the accident site.
After being informed, the police rushed to the spot and seized the truck. Police came to know from the local people that the truck was going at a high speed when the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit the youth. It was also learnt that the none of them were not wearing helmet. Police are conducting raids to nab the driver.
