Two more nabbed in fake passport racket

Kolkata: Police have arrested two more persons from Sodepur in North 24-Parganas for their alleged involvement in operating a fake passport racket.
After interrogating Sahid Ahmed Khan, a Bangladeshi national who was arrested on Monday night, the investigators came to know the names of the other accused identified as Prabir Biswas, alias Bhola and Biplab Sharma. Police came to know in the interrogation that Sahid had taken refuge at a house of Prabir which is situated in the Angel Nagar area of Sodepur.
Police also came to know that Biplab used to run a photocopy shop in the area. According to the preliminary investigation, police came to know that the duo extended their support to Sahid who was one of the main accused in the incident. Biplab used to distribute fake passports and Aadhaar cards to the people. Both Prabir and Biplab used to get huge amounts of money from Sahid.
In the course of the investigation, Sahid told police that they used to receive Rs 1 lakh from the customers among whom they distributed the fake Aadhaar cards and passports. He also told the police that he used to supply fake passport and identity cards to the Bangladeshi nationals who illegally intrude into the Indian territory.
According to a senior police officer of Barrackpore police commissionerate, there might be other Bangladeshi nationals involved in the racket. Police are also investigating if the accused used to supply these fake documents to customers from other states.
Police are also investigating to know if the accused had any connection with any terror outfits.
