Two injured after truck hits three vehicles

Kolkata: Two persons were injured after a speeding truck lost control and hit three vehicles one after the other and finally hit a boundary wall of the SSKM Hospital. In separate accidents, three persons were killed.
The incident took place on late Monday night. According to the police, the accident took place at around 12.15 am on late Monday night. The truck was running along Jawaharlal Nehru Road. When it was taking a turn near the SSKM Hospital, the driver lost the control over the vehicle and hit a taxi. The truck then hit another vehicle and later another taxi. The local residents told the police that the truck was running at a high speed which led to the accident.
After hitting three vehicles in a row, the truck hit the boundary wall of SSKM, a portion of which collapsed. According to the police, a taxi driver and two others were injured. Two of them were admitted to SSKM Hospital.
The driver of truck fled from the spot leaving the
vehicle on the road. Police are conducting raids to nab the truck driver.
In another incident, four persons were injured when the tyre of a motor van carrying woods hit them following the tyre burst near Magrahat in South 24 Parganas. Police said that when the van was crossing the Magrahat area, the tyre suddenly burst as a result of which the van lost its balance and hit the persons.
In Bankura's Mejia, two youth who were travelling in car died after their vehicle was hit by another car near Mejia in Bankura. The local residents rescued and rushed the injured passengers to the hospital where they were declared brought dead. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The driver of the truck fled from the spot along with the vehicle immediately after the accident. Meanwhile, one passer-by was killed after being hit by a speeding motorcycle in North Dinajpur's Raigunge on Tuesday morning.
