Two including 2-year-old killed in separate road accidents in Malda

Kolkata: Two persons including a two-year-old child were killed in two separate road accidents in Malda.
The incident took place on Tuesday night.
According to police, the first incident took place in Sujapur area in Malda.
The 2-year-old boy, Faraz Seikh was playing by the side of the road adjacent to his house under Sahapur gram panchayat when a speeding tractor hit him.
The victim received serious injuries in his body. Locals rushed the victim to a private nursing home in Malda where he was pronounced brought dead by the doctors.
Locals have alleged that illegal digging of land was going on in the area for quite some time. Many tractors have been deployed to do the job.
Locals have also alleged that some minor boys are being engaged to drive the tractors. The issued was raised with the local police but no steps have been taken in this regard so far, alleged angry mob.
According to locals, the accused tractor driver fled the spot along with the vehicle immediately after the accident.
Police are conducting raids to nab the driver who has been absconding since the incident took place.
Locals on Wednesday staged a demonstration in front of the policemen who arrived at the spot for the sake of investigation.
They alleged that the vehicles often pass through the area flouting traffic norms but no step has been taken by the police despite repeated pleas.
The incident caused traffic jam in the area for some time and was soon brought under control by the police.
Another accident took place in Adaidanga area under Pathuria police station in the same district on Tuesday night when a youth who was riding his motorcycle was knocked down by a truck.
The victim, a local resident was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Locals rushed the victim to Adaidanga primary health centre. He was later shifted to Malda Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
The victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on early Wednesday morning.
Police are conducting raids to nab the truck driver who has been at large since the accident took place.
