Two held for raping minor in Bansdroni

Kolkata: Officers from Bansdroni police station on Monday night arrested two accused on charges of raping a minor on the night of Navami at an abandoned house at Pragati Park area. The 16-year-old girl had lodged a complaint at the police station on the basis of which the police initiated a case of gang-rape.

According to police sources, the victim, a resident of Jamadarpara, had gone for pandal-hopping with her boyfriend Babusona. While she was returning home, she was forcibly taken to an abandoned house at Pragati Park and was forcibly made to consume some kind of drugs and was then raped. Apart from Babusona, his friend Krishna, who also was involved in the crime, was arrested. In another incident of alleged rape at Nandigram in East Midnapore, a woman had lodged a complaint against a local leader. The accused Asit Hazra had offered her a residence under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for the purpose. However, the victim later had refused to cough up the money. The woman was forcibly taken to a local club on Monday where she was raped and was threatened of dire consequences if she opens her mouth regarding the crime. However, the woman narrated the entire incident to her husband and lodged a complaint with the Nandigram police station.
