Two die after drinking hooch in Phansidewa

Darjeeling: Two persons lost their lives after consuming hooch in Phansidewa near Siliguri on Thursday. The deceased include Babul Karmakar (40) and his friend. The other person has not been identified yet. Local residents claim that they died after consuming spurious liquor. There are many such hooch shops in Phansidewa.

Locals vandalised two such shops. Police had to intervene to quell the

mob. In the past also, there have been reports of numerous hooch deaths from the Madarbox area of Phansidewa. The worst affected is the Madhujot area.
