Two arrested in separate incidents of sexual abuse

Kolkata: An auto driver was arrested on charges of molesting a student of Jadavpur University on Thursday evening. In another incident, a person was apprehended by Netaji Nagar police station for attempting sexual abuse on a girl in her neigbourhood.

According to a senior official of Jadavpur police station, the complainant was travelling in an auto rickshaw from Golpark to Jadavpur 8B to attend her university classes and was seated on the left side of the driver. The driver allegedly came closer to the victim and deliberately touched her body. The girl came down from the auto rickshaw and lodged a complaint with the Jadavpur police station. The driver, Partha Dey was arrested right from the spot. The victim is a resident of Howrah.

In another incident, a girl was molested a few distance away from her residence in Netaji Nagar area on Thursday night.

According to police sources, the girl was returning home in Puudapukur area when the accused person who was riding a bicycle stopped her and allegedly molested her. He also tried to drag her inside a bush by the wayside. The victim raised an alarm and he fled the spot. A complaint was lodged with the Netaji Nagar police station and the accused Rajesh Rajak was arrested. Rajak is a resident of Bihar and is a driver by profession. He has made advances to the victim earlier also and was forbidden to do so by her parents.
