Two arrested for issuing fake documents for vehicle registration

Kolkata: Two persons were arrested from Rajarhat on Wednesday night for allegedly issuing fake vehicle registration and other related documents. Police have also seized two bikes and a luxurious car.

According to police, on Wednesday night, cops from Rajarhat police station got a tip-off about a racket being operated in Rajarhat area where fake vehicle documents are being issued.

Based on the information, sleuths raided a flat located on Reckjoani Hospital Road and found two persons identified as Ajijul Rahaman of Galasia Dakshinpara in Rajarhat and Altaf Hossain of Lilong District in Manipur along with a lot of fake documents.

During the raid, the police found one computer which was being used for making fake documents, instruments of making fake smart card, engine number plate, 144 pieces of blank Smart I Card, 58 pieces of blank Smart card with micro chip, photo paper and some finished, semi-finished smart card from Assam, Punjab and West Bengal.

Immediately, both of them were arrested. Sleuths have also seized two bikes out of which one was unregistered and a luxurious SUV bearing registration number of Assam. During checking of database, sleuths found the same model of car with the said registration number but the engine number is different.

After interrogating the accused persons, investigating officers came to know that Rahaman was arrested previously in Kolkata Police area for dealing in stolen bikes. Hossain was also arrested in a same case in Kolkata Police area before that. Both of them met while they were in judicial custody then. Rahman had taken the flat in Rajarhat on rent during April this year and was running the racket under a person identified as Rafique of Haroa. Sleuths are trying to locate Rafique in order to find out who else are connected with the racket. It is suspected this could be an inter-state vehicle theft racket.
