Two arrested for forging signs on fake documents

Kolkata: Two persons were arrested on charges of making fake documents by forging signatures on Friday.

The incident came to light when Md. Zakir Hossain (Muslim Marriage Registrar and Kazi of Baharampur) lodged a complaint with the Hare Street police station.

The case was then transferred to detective department's anti-fraud section.

After the investigation, it was established that Md. Ubaidulla had forged the signatures of Hossain to make fake affidavits.

He had filed an anticipatory

bail petition under the provision of 438 Cr.PC before

the Calcutta High Court falsely implicating the

complainant in a criminal case of Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of Samshergunj police station, Murshidabad.

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, abbreviated as the NDPS Act, is an act of the Parliament of India that prohibits a person to produce/manufacture/cultivate, possess, sell, purchase, transport, store, and/or consume any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance.

Statements of the Commissioner of Affidavits, attached with the Calcutta High Court, were recorded and experts' opinion established the allegation of forgery.

Police have arrested Ubaidulla and his associate Asaduzzaman from Srerampore. They will be in police remand till September 4, 2019.

The duo were brought to Kolkata.

They will be produced before Calcutta Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
