TRDA plans to set up replicas of 51 peeths near Tarapith

Kolkata: Tarapith Rampurhat Development Authority (TRDA) has planned to set up replicas of 51 peeths on 100 acre land near Tarapith temple.
Sources said that the land has been identified and a letter has been given by the TRDA authorities to the state Forest department for the land as it belongs to them.
The plot where it will be developed is situated close to Tarapith temple. There are five peeths itself in Birbhum and those are Nalhateswari, Bakreswar, Fullora, Nandikeswari and Kankalitala. Rest are situated in different parts of the country.
It may be mentioned that the step has been taken so that people can get to see the replicas of all the 51 peeths at one place in
Tarapith itself.
It is learnt that a preliminary design has been prepared, based on which the land has been sought. The TRDA authorities have initiated discussions with concerned officials in this connection. The work would also start once the land is handed over to the TRDA authorities.
This comes at the time when a massive development work has been carried out to give facelift to the place around Tarapith temple.
A gate to welcome people has been constructed and at the same time a project has been taken to renovate the kitchen where the bhog is prepared. Fifty rooms have been built for sadhus in the area and at the same time 200 rooms have been constructed to relocate the shops that had been creating inconvenience to pilgrims.
A TRDA office will also be developed in the area to ensure better monitoring of all projects. Initiative has also been taken to set up a karmatirtha at Tarapith.
Arrangement for proper illumination has been done and there is a plan to set up a separate power sub-station only for Tarapith.
With the development in infrastructure, the place have also witnessed a heavy increase in total number of tourists. Now people visit the place round the clock and the tourist flow would go up further with setting up of the replicas of 51 peeths.
