Traffic sergeant asks college girl to show license, gets slapped

A college student has allegedly slapped a traffic sergeant after she was intercepted by the officer for violating traffic norms.

The incident triggered tension on Diamond Harbour Road in Behala on Thursday morning. Somnath Ghosh, the traffic sergeant of the Diamond Harbour Traffic Guard, has reportedly lodged a complaint against the accused with the Behala police station.

Police said that the accused girl, a second-year student from Shibnath Shastri College was riding her scooter on Diamond Harbour Road when Ghosh stopped her and asked her to show her license.

She told him that she had left it at home after which the officer asked her to produce other documents. The girl then called up her parents who came to the spot within a few minutes with the papers. While the sergeant was going through the papers, the girl tried to snatch them and suddenly slapped the officer when he tried to prevent her. With the help of her parents, the girl finally snatched away the papers from the traffic sergeant and left the place.

The incident left the local residents stunned seeing a college girl attacking a traffic sergeant in broad daylight.

The police officer later lodged a complaint against the girl in the police station on the basis of which a probe has begun. The scooter has been seized.
