Traffic impositions to facilitate construction of new road

Kolkata: The Eastern Railway has announced power and traffic block impositions for construction of new road over bridge replacing level crossing gate in Asansol division on November 30, December 3 and December 7.

"For construction of road over bridge replacing level crossing gate between Jamtara and Bodma in main line section of Asansol division, three hours traffic and power block from 1 pm to 4 pm on both UP and Down lines for three days will be taken on November 30, December 3 and December 7," said an official of Eastern Railway.

He reiterated that Howrah – Sriganganagar Udyan Abha Toofan Express will be rescheduled by two hours on November 30, December 3

and December 7. Jaynagar – Puri Express will be rescheduled by two hours from Jaynagar on November 30 and December 7.

This apart, six long-distance down trains will be suitably controlled during the block period.

Meanwhile, there has been a remarkable growth of both non-suburban and suburban passenger traffic on Eastern Railway in recent times.

From November 11 to November 20, ER recorded that a total number of passengers, as compared with last year's figure, had increased from 37.96 crore to 41.93 crore thereby registering 10.46 per cent growth in total number of passengers

This includes 29.36 per cent growth in non-suburban passenger and 6.85 per cent growth in suburban passengers.
