Traffic cops issue statement on restrictions and advisories

Kolkata: The Kolkata Traffic Police has made an elaborate arrangement for the grand carnival at Red Road on Tuesday.
Movement of vehicles on Red Road, Lovers Lane, Queens Way, Plassey Gate Road and Esplanade Ramp will be restricted from 2 pm. Moreover, movement of all goods vehicles on AJC Bose Road, New Road, Dufferin Road, Lovers Lane and Red Road will be restricted from Tuesday noon. Movement of traffic on Kidderpore Road from Hastings Crossing will also be closed from 2 pm onwards. Vehicles apart from those meant for the carnival will not be allowed to ply North-bound along Hospital Road from its crossing with AJC Bose Road. Senior officials of Kolkata Traffic Police issued an advisory for spectators who will come on foot to take AJC Bose Road, Chowringhee Road, Outram Road, Mayo Road or Rani Rashmoni Avenue instead of Kidderpore Road. Vehicles may also be diverted from the adjacent arterial roads as and when required. On Tuesday, from 2 pm onwards, till the programme is over, parking of vehicles will not be allowed on roads including Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Cathedral Road, Queens Way, Mayo Road and Strand Road.
Meanwhile, England, Chile and Iraq U-17 football teams, scheduled to take part in the FIFA U-17 World Cup starting October 6, will be the special guests when the Durga Puja festival's immersion carnival is held here on Tuesday.
