Tourism sector in Hills generates huge employment

Siliguri: North Bengal is filled with spectacular places and the government has been taking regular initiatives to conserve the beauty of the places for tourist attractions.

Places like Lataguri, Gajol Doba among many others are taken care of. New bridges are being built for traffic management purposes and to avoid disturbing irrigation bridges.

Besides building trekking routes from Sandakphu to Dooars, new roads are being constructed for 'elephant safari' and 'jeep safari' from Gajol Doba through Saraswatipur to Bengal Safari.

Altogether, around 130 trekking routes have been identified through the eco-region of Dooars.

The government is seeking help from non-governmental or private bodies like High End Tourism, Home Stay or Eco Friendly Tourism in the upcoming projects.

On this occasion, Tourism minister Goutam Deb says: "The job opportunities in the tourism sector are highly rated and have a huge employment potential. The state government is responsible for preserving the tourist economies and properties by working as facilitators, looking after and taking care of a better environment."

The government has targetted to complete a total number of 100 projects by 2020, which will yield good results. The Taj group has decided to visit the Makaibari project soon. The government wants to involve the youngsters in varieties of new projects that are to be planned soon.
