Touching new heights: FICCI partners Bengal in promoting state's business potential

KOLKATA: Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), the flagship Investment Summit organised by the government of West Bengal, has continued to witness the presence of significant political dignitaries and business delegates from around the globe, underlining both the primacy of West Bengal as an attractive investment destination and a stable and progressive policy regime.
Bengal Global Business Summit 2018 is being organised with FICCI as the summit partner. The first day of the Summit was attended by political dignitaries from India and abroad and national and international speakers who shared their thoughts and experiences.
A host of prominent industrialists including Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Ltd, LN Mittal, Chairman & CEO, Arcelor Mittal, Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group, Kishore Biyani, CEO, Future Group, Uday Kotak, Executive Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd and Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, addressed the summit.
Several past presidents of FICCI, Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja
Neotia Group, Jyotsna Suri, CMD, Bharat Hotels, Saroj Poddar, Chairman, Adventz Group and YK Modi, Chairman & CEO, Great Eastern Energy Corporation Ltd, were present at the inaugural session of the summit.
Over 400 international delegates from 32 countries attended the summit. 9 countries — Japan, Germany, Italy, Poland, South Korea, France, Czech Republic, UK and UAE joined the summit as partner nations.
The International Plenary Session witnessed speeches from Ambassadors of Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Gabon.
Business and Official Delegation from JETRO — Japan, KOTRA — Korea, CCPIT — Shandong, China, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre — UAE, US India Strategic Partnership Forum, Federation of Bangladesh India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Australia India Business Council, Scottish Development International, Asia Scotland Institute — UK, Indo - Polish Chamber of Commerce, Italy and Serbia attended the summit.
Sectoral sessions on Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Downstream, Textile and Apparel, Tourism, IT/ITES and Start-Up were organised on day 1 of the summit.
