Top cop bridges communication gap with subordinates
Kolkata: Commissioner of Police (CP), Kolkata Anuj Sharma has taken a unique initiative to establish contact with his subordinate police officials, mainly those working on the road directly.
A WhatsApp group has been created, where he is providing instructions to the officials and also maintaining communication with them.
According to sources, after Sharma took over as the CP, Kolkata, he stated that maintaining law and order and preventing crime against woman will be his prime focus. After a few days, he met with the senior officials of Kolkata Police and decided to create a WhatsApp group in each division, where all the officers will be added from the rank of Officer-in-Charge (OC) to Deputy Commissioner (DC), along with the CP. Since then, Sharma himself has been monitoring the activities of the police stations and discussing with the subordinate officials.
A similar WhatsApp group has been created in the traffic section, where Sharma is keeping a tab on the naka checkings done across the city and also providing his ideas and instructions.
Sources informed that this step has been found to be very effective as the CP himself is interacting with the subordinate officials. As a result, the communication gap has been closed and works can be done smoothly.
Sharma has also instructed the traffic police officials to keep conducting the naka checkings to stop traffic violations at night, especially to prevent errant bikers.
