To ensure safe Holi, cops to keep strict vigil

Kolkata: Both the state police and Kolkata Police have made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during Holi.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had directed all her cabinet colleagues on Monday, to keep watch in their respective areas and districts, so that no one can make any attempt of creating any disturbance.
She had said: "Peace should be maintained during Holi and there should be vigil so that no one can even attempt to create any disturbance."
She has also asked all the ministers to be in touch with people at the grassroot level and at the same time, to be in touch with the police, so that no untoward incident takes place.
The police have also been directed to take all necessary steps for the same.
Top brass of both Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police held a series of meetings, to chalk out a plan of action to maintain peace and harmony across the state, on the day of Doljatra and Holi on Thursday and Friday.
Major steps have already been taken at the police station level, following the direction given by the concerned senior police officers.
Officers-in-charge of local police stations held meetings with people's representatives in the area, members of local clubs and representatives of all religions. Meetings have also been held with representatives of residential complexes as well.
