TMC's extended core committee meet to be held at Uttirnya

Kolkata: The extended core committee meeting of Trinamool Congress will be held at Uttirnya on January 31.
It is for the first time when a meeting will be held at the newly built auditorium. Besides MPs and MLA leaders from the Gram Panchayats, leaders from Panchayat Samitys and Zilla Parishads will attend the meeting which is of great importance in view of the forthcoming Panchayat election scheduled to be held in April or May.
Party chief Mamata Banerjee will address the leaders and will announce the roadmap for the election. It may be recalled that in 2008 Panchayat Election Trinamool Congress had for the first time made a major dent in CPI(M) bastion bagging two Zilla Parishads.
After coming to power in 2011, Mamata Banerjee gave special emphasis on the construction of rural roads and supply of filtered water to every rural household along with making the districts Open Defecation Free (ODF). In the past six and a half years, the Panchayats and Rural Development department have constructed 13,800 km rural roads. The Centre in 2017 gave clearance to upgrade and construct another 2,326 km rural road. Better road connectivity has brought major changes in rural scenario.
Banerjee has already asked the Panchayat leaders to build intense contact with the locals. For the first time, a two-day Panchayat conference was held in 2017 where stress was given on the transparent functioning of the Gram Panchayats.
Banerjee has said over and again that those working against the interest of the party will not be spared and instructed the workers to stop infighting and work together.
Despite the caution, in South 24-Parganas and Hooghly, infighting has become a major issue in Trinamool Congress.
Party leaders said it is to be seen what instructions party supremo Mamata Banerjee gives to the party workers and leaders.
