TMC's core committee meet today at CM's house

Kolkata: The core committee meeting of Trinamool Congress will be held at the residence of party chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday.
It will be chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and it is likely to commence at 1 pm.
Three key issues that are likely to be discussed at the meeting are party's strategy at the Panchayat election scheduled to be held in 2018, how to counter BJP's attempts to create communal tension and infighting in the party. Though the party did very well in the recently-concluded civic polls in five municipalities, Durgapur Municipal Corporation (DMC) and a notified authority and bagged 140 out to 146 seats in these civic bodies, it was learnt that the party chief is not happy with the behavior of some leaders of the civic bodies who have brought down the image of the party in the eyes of public. The party has expelled Anisur Rahaman of Panskura for six years for flouting the instructions of party chief. Though the Opposition has got only six seats, with BJP bagging four seats and an Independent candidate and Forward Block having one seat each, there is infighting among the Councillors in all the civic bodies. Mamata Banerjee is likely to address this issue.
Mamata Banerjee has said over and again that BJP is trying to create political tension in West Bengal. In the past one week, BJP has severely criticised Trinamool for not allowing any immersion on October 31 when Muharram will be observed. In social media, BJP is criticising every act of Mamata Banerjee.
As the Panchayat election will be held in 2018, Banerjee is likely to discuss the strategy the party will follow before the poll. She has already instructed the leaders to go to the grassroot and build contacts.
