TMC leader hacked to death by miscreants

Kolkata: Azad Seikh (52), a local businessman and a Trinamool Congress leader from Makrampore village under Beldanga police station in Murshidabad was hacked to death by some unknown miscreants.
The victim had gone out for a morning walk on Wednesday like any other day. When he was walking along a road, some miscreants stopped him and hit him with a weapon. The miscreants had their faces covered when they attacked the businessman. The incident had triggered tension among the local residents.
After hearing the screams of the victim, the local residents rushed to the spot and found the victim in a pool of blood. The local residents rushed the victim to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital where the doctors pronounced him brought dead. The body has been sent for the post-mortem examination.
The local residents told the police that the miscreants came on a motorbike and fled the spot before the local people had gathered on the spot. The family members of the deceased lodged a complaint with the police on the basis of which a specific case has started.
It has been learnt that the victim was a relative of a local Trinamool Congress leader. Police are yet to arrest anybody in this connection so far. According to the preliminary investigation, they suspect that an old business rivalry might have led to the incident. Police are not yet ruling out the possibility of this being a political murder. They are investigating if there was any political angle in the incident. The local residents alleged that the victim was an influential leader and hence it was a deliberate attempt to kill him so that the party's organisation could be weakened. Police have started a detailed probe into the incident. They are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
