TMC establishes control over Bongaon Municipality

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress has established its control over Bongaon Municipality by defeating BJP in the no-confidence motion. State Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim said the BJP councillors did not turn up in time, adding: "BJP is trying to create trouble everywhere and disturb peace."

Unprecedented police arrangements were made in front of the municipality. The police put up barricades preventing workers of both BJP and Trinamool Congress from entering the municipality building. BJP leaders said they would move the High Court on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that Trinamool Congress has already got back Kanchrapara, Halisahar and Haringhata municipalities after the councillors of these civic bodies who had gone to BJP, returned back to Trinamool Congress.
