TMC drops Chowdhury, Sabitri Mitra from all committees for infighting

Kolkata: Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury and Sabitri Mitra, two veteran Trinamool Congress leaders have been dropped from all the committees of the Malda district unit of the party on Thursday.
The new committee was announced in presence of state Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari.
Political experts said the removal of the duo from all the committees of the party before the ensuing Panchayat election is significant.
Both Mitra and Chowdhury had joined the Trinamool from the Congress and Mitra was a close aide of ABA Ghani Khan Chowdhury. Both were Cabinet ministers in the first Trinamool government (2011-16). In 2016 Assembly election, they lost despite Trinamool's great success. The reason for their defeat was infighting. Despite party supremo Mamata Banerjee's strict instructions, they went ahead with infighting affecting the party's rank and file. When contacted, Sabitri Mitra said: "It is the decision of the party and it is final. I am a worker of the party and will accept the decision."
