TMC clash: 1 killed, 6 others injured

Kolkata: A Yuva Trinamool Congress supporter was killed and six others injured following a clash between Trinamool Yuva supporters with their counterparts at Basanti in South 24 Parganas on Saturday morning.
Six policemen sustained injuries when the supporters of both the groups hurled stones and brickbats at them. They received treatment at Basanti hospital. Three persons have been arrested so far.
Senior police officers are camping in the area. Police fired in the air to bring the situation under control. Locals demanded that illegal arms kept with the members of both the groups should be seized immediately.
Trouble began early on Saturday morning when a few Trinamool Youth supporters attacked TMC workers.
They hurled bombs and attacked houses belonging to them.
The locals alleged that both the groups opened fire injuring Mujibar Mullick who later died on way to the hospital. Two others who sustained splinter injuries have been admitted to Chittaranjan Hospital in a critical condition.
The locals alleged that despite complaints, the police did not take action against the workers of both the groups.
Clashes between the groups have become frequent. Locals said they will wait for some days hoping that police will arrest the persons involved failing which they will take law in their hands.
