Ticketing system to start at Darjeeling Botanical Garden

Darjeeling: Come March, people visiting the Lloyd Botanical Garden, Darjeeling, will have to pay Rs 20 per person as entry fee. The 140 year old botanical garden in Darjeeling has decided to introduce ticketing for upkeep and development of the heritage landmark.
"We have decided to introduce a ticketing system from March. The amount collected will be used for maintenance, research and development, upkeep, upgrading facilities and improving the existing infrastructure," stated Forest department ranger Manoj Chettri, who is in charge of the garden.
The authorities have plans to introduce drinking water facility along with a cafeteria in the premises, apart from improving the drains and pathways.
"However, students in uniform, carrying identity card or authorised by head of institution, will have to pay Rs 5 only," stated Chettri. Ticket counters will come up at the four gates of the garden, namely at Lochnagar, Chandmari, Pound Road and Stenthal.
