Thundershowers in city & adjoining districts, wind speed clocks 60-64 kmph

Kolkata: Gusty winds accompanied with light to moderate rainfall lashed through various parts of South Bengal on Saturday evening.

The Regional Meteorological centre at Alipore predicted similar weather condition on Sunday evening as well. There may be isolated rainfall in various South Bengal districts in the next 24 hours.

A senior official of the Alipore MeT office said wind measuring around 60-64 km per hour hit South Bengal as it was earlier predicted. The intensity was lesser compared to what the city experienced on Friday. Some of the districts like Bankura and Purulia had received maximum rain and intensity of the wind in both the districts was on the higher side compared to the others.

Kolkata also experience thundershowers on Saturday evening.

"It is due to the impact of the Nor'wester which is blowing in the North-West direction. A similar condition may prevail for the next 24 hours, particularly during the evening hours. There has also been a cyclonic circulation over Bengal, Jharkhand and parts of Odisha," the weather official said.
