Three killed in Murshidabad crude bomb explosion

Kolkata: Three persons were killed in an explosion at Jalangi in Murshidabad on Monday evening.

It is alleged that miscreants had stored crude bombs at an abandoned house at Taltali in Jalangi, which accidentally exploded.

According to sources, on Monday evening, all of a sudden three persons identified as Nantu Molla, Mintu Mondal and Chhabi Shaikh met in an abandoned house locate at Ghoshpara.

All of a sudden locals heard sound of a high-intensity explosion. When they ran out of their houses they saw smoke coming out of the abandoned house.

Local residents used water to douse the fire and informed police. Later, the police recovered three bodies from there. It is suspected that the trio died due to explosion of crude bombs. Sources informed that two groups were involved in a

conflict over the issue of controlling the Taltali ferry in Jalangi.

It is alleged that the trio had belonged to one of the groups and were planning to take control over the ferry service by resorting to hooliganism. Locals claimed that there were more people present at the

time of incident as they had seen few persons with injuries escaping.

The police have started a probe and trying to find out what exactly happened a few days.

Several names have cropped up who are suspected to have connection with the same issue. Till Tuesday night, no one was arrested.
