Three incidents of fire in city, none injured

Kolkata: Three incidents of fire took place in the city on Monday.
The incidents of fire at Topsia and Cossipore took place in early morning and the third incident happened in the afternoon at Beliaghata.
Police said eight fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames at Beliaghata where a fire broke out inside a garage at around 2.20 pm on Monday.
Locals found smoke billowing out of the garage and started crying for help. Some local youth initiated the work to douse the fire
but it spread fast as the garage was packed with inflammable materials.
The fire threatened to spread to some of the adjacent shops. The area was cordoned off and the fire fighters continued working to extinguish the flames. The fire fighters took around one and a half hours to douse the flames.
The fire fighters, however, couldn't identify the exact reason behind the fire.
The Disaster Management Group of the Kolkata Police was also pressed into action to bring the situation under control.
The other incident of fire took place at Cossipore where it happened inside a godown packed with paper.
Police said six fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
It was around 1.30 am on Monday when some of the locals found smoke billowing out of the godown.
They informed the state fire and emergency services department. Fire fighters reached the spot and they took around three hours to extinguish the flames.
The fire at a rubber factory at Topsia took place early in the morning.
The fire spread fast as there were some inflammable materials in the godown.
In this case as well the exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. The total extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
