Third Shabor film starring Saswata to focus on cyber crime

Kolkata: Arindam Sil's third Shabor film is officially going to be announced on Friday. The film — which depicts the Bengali-at-heart detective Shabor — stepping out of Kolkata for the first time — has many firsts.
For the first time, a third film in any Bengali detective series is being made outside of Feluda and Byomkesh. Secondly, the crime committed in the film is interestingly in the domain of the cyber world and is shot mostly outside Kolkata in rest of Bengal and Lucknow. "Many matrimonial and dating portals are springing up every day. But the crime does not fall under the purview of the Kolkata Police this time. Also, the flick will be shot in Chandannagore, Bally, Kolkata and Lucknow. In Lucknow, I may not be shooting at the Bhoolbhulaiya because that's symbolic and overused. However I'm scouting for other location spots", Sil told Millenium Post. The film, which will be shot on and from September 6, will be released in January next year.
The new Shabor film has a bit of Durga Puja in it. "The story ends on Saptami when the kalabou snan is happening. Also, the fact that Durga puja is round the corner is woven into the ambience of the film. The production values will be sleek, fast-paced and of international standards. Action sequences including chases will be aplenty. There will also be fast cuts", explained Sil. The producers SVF will be dishing out a slightly higher budget since the film will be shot outside Kolkata for a large extent.
As for the cast, Sil will be presenting Saswata Chatterjee as the ace detective Shabor and Subhrojit Dutta as Shobor's sidekick, Nandalal. Several actors make their debut in Sil's film, which also stars veterans like Anjana Bhowmick, Mir, Padmanabha Dasgupta.
Sil has recently directed and released the film, Dhananjoy on the controversial hanging of Dhananjoy Chatterjee, the security guard who was hanged to death for raping and murdering a young schoolgirl in Kolkata. He has earlier directed two Shabor films, Ebar Shabor and Egoler Chokh. Ebar Shabor was released in 2015.
Egoler Chokh, a 2016 film, was nominated in several categories at the Filmfare awards 2017 and Anirban Bhattacharya won the best supporting role award-Bengali for his role in the film.
